School Day Arrangements

School starts for your child at 8.25am. Please continue to drop your child off at the nursery door.

Your child will then also need to be collected from the same place at 2.45pm promptly. Please be reminded that this is the collection time and in the eventuality that you are running late, please inform the school office.

Snack & Drinks

Children in EYFS will be provided with a piece of fruit at break times each day as well as a drink of either milk or water.

Children require a water bottle, containing water that they can have access to at all times throughout the school day.

Lunch Time

Children having a school lunch now choose their own lunch at the hatch as part of our transition into FS2. The children have loved this and are doing an amazing job.

If sending a packed lunch, please continue to ensure that no nut products are sent into school and no sesame products are sent into school. We appreciate your ongoing support with this.

In the Early Years we use the outdoors, whatever the weather – we try our very best for the weather not to be a barrier. Therefore, we ask that parents keep a regular eye on the weather forecast and send into school appropriate clothing to suit the weather. Please ensure that items such as jackets and sun hats are clearly labelled to avoid confusion with items belonging to other children.

Over this half-term, your child will be learning about the following:

English:

Reading single letter sounds in phonics

Orally blending CVC words

Using letters to represent meaning, sometimes in sequence to write words

Maths:

Subitising

Counting

Sorting and comparing

Understanding the World (UW):

Talking about the area where we live

Talking about our experiences of holidays

Finding out about other countries around the world

Personal, Social, Emotional Development (PSED):

Growing and Changing - you will receive a PSHE newsletter about this subject

Expressive Art and Design (EAD):

Exploring materials

Drawing with increasing detail

Physical Development (PD):

Games

Communication & Language (C&L):

Asking questions and offering explanations.

PE

Your child’s PE day this half-term will be Monday,

Please remember your child must come to school wearing their full PE kit on these days, earrings removed (staff are unable to remove them and children will not be able to join in the lesson if wearing earrings).

Home Learning

Thank you for your support with our new home learning format.  It has been wonderful to see the children’s work uploaded onto their portfolios. We will continue with this same format next term.

As always, if you need any assistance or resources to help with the completion of home learning, please do let a member of the class team know and we will be happy to help.

Reading at Home

Please aim to listen to your child read their school reading book at home 4 times a week.

Please record this on your child’s reading card. The log and reading book must be returned to school each day.

Children will also have a book from the class lending library to enjoy too. However, we ask this is not recorded on the Reading Card as this book will be one your child may have picked for you to read with them and is not a reading book matched to their reading/phonic ability.

Online Safety

Online safety for all children is extremely important. Your child will receive online safety lessons throughout the academic year. Please use the following website for guidance and support:

https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/

To help teach your children about online safety, you can access the following websites for support:

My Life Online - Conversation Guide | Childnet

If you have any concerns or questions regarding online safety, please do not hesitate to contact a member of your child’s class team for further support and advice.

General reminders:

Please remember to label all your child’s clothing with both names.

If you wish to speak to your child’s class teacher or to arrange a meeting with them, please ring the school office 01782 234868 and they will return your call as soon as possible before/after the school day, messaging on class dojo will not be replied to.

If your child is absent please ring the school or leave a message on Arbor by 9am, holidays are not authorised.

Holidays and  regular poor attendance may involve fines for each parent and involvement from the Education Welfare Officer so we do look forward to seeing your child in school every day unless you have informed us that they are poorly.

See you next time!
