Welcome to Co-op Academy Glebe

As the first term is almost over, we would like to share how proud we are of all new and existing pupils. Children who are new to school have embraced their new journey at Glebe and existing pupils have settled into their new classes. We could not be more proud of the amazing start all pupils have had this academic year.

We would like to thank you for your continued support of our high standards and expectations of school uniform. It's great to see how smart children have been looking!

Start time reminder: Please ensure your child arrives on time as below. All children are offered a breakfast bagel to help them be ready to learn. If your child does arrive late, you will need to sign them into school as you bring them in via the school office. If children arrive late, after 9am this will be classed as unauthorised and once 10 unauthorised marks are noted on the register, this will result in a penalty notice being issued.

FS1 - 8:25am - 2:45pm

FS2 - 8:25am - 2:55pm

Y1 - 8:25am - 2:55pm

Y2 - 8:25am - 2.55pm

Y3 - 8:30am - 3pm

Y4 - 8:30am -  3pm

Y5 - 8:30am - 3pm

Y6 - 8:30am - 3pm

Unauthorised marks can total for a number of reasons; lateness after 9am or unauthorised absences such as holidays. There are two registers a day taken in class, five days of unauthorised absence would result in ten unauthorised marks and a penalty fine.

We have been busy planning class trips/activities. A letter has been sent regarding FS2-Y6 Trips and 'Top up' trip pots are now live on 'Arbor' if you wish to make a voluntary contribution towards your child's trip. We thank you for your continued support with our trips.

We hope you have enjoyed attending our 'Glebe Rocks' assemblies over this term. It has been lovely to see so many of our families attending. If your child is to receive a certificate in the assembly, you will receive a 'Ssssh it's a secret' email in advance, so hopefully you can join us on the day.  We do continue to ask that only one member per family attends due to the size of our school hall.

Safer Parking

What can you do to help keep everyone safe around the school gates?

Please don’t:

· Block the road - emergency vehicles and other community traffic will need access

· Park on yellow lines, zig-zags or block the school entrance

· Park on the pavement, across dropped kerbs, across school gates  or residents’ driveways

· Park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction

· Park where you will cause inconvenience to other road users

· Leave your vehicle with the engine still running

· Stop in the middle of the road to drop your child off, even for a few seconds

· Park in alleyways as this needs to be accessible for our community

Support your child to be making them aware of road safety as you help them to get out of the car/cross roads

These changes make a real difference to the congestion around schools, making the school run less stressful and far safer for everyone. PLEASE just give yourself a few extra minutes to park carefully and considerately and walk a bit further if necessary. Please also pass this information on to any other adults who drop off/collect your child(ren) from school. We have regularly been in touch with the local council asking them for support, we have had several meetings with local MP’s asking for support to keep our community safe, our PCSO regularly supports the safety around the  school.

PLEASE DO SUPPORT KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE AROUND SCHOOL BY DRIVING AND PARKING SENSIBLY AT ALL TIMES

Current Uniform

Burgundy sweatshirt with the school logo

White short-sleeved polo T-shirt

Grey or black trousers/ skirt

Grey or black socks/tights

Black plain shoes, no heels

Earrings must be studs only and not hoops (removed for PE by adult at home)

In the summer

• Grey or black trouser shorts

• Red and white summer dresses

Jewellery must not be worn, with the exception of one pair of stud earrings. Please ensure your child does not wear earrings with hoops to school for health and safety reasons. These must be removed for PE by parents prior to the start of the PE day if your child is unable to remove them for PE themselves. Makeup, nail varnish and false nails are also not permitted.

Holidays/Lates and Fines

All holidays are unauthorised. Families will receive a fine issued from the LA for taking their child out of school for 5 days recorded as unauthorised. If your child receives an unauthorised late mark (after 9am arrival) on 10 occasions, they will also be subject to a fine along with 10 marks (5 days) due to an unauthorised mark. Please do try to make any essential appointments after school or as late/early as possible in the day to minimise how much learning time is lost.

Holidays or any requests for leave of absence still need to be processed, and a form should be completed 4 weeks in advance. Please ask at the office for an Application For Leave of Absence Form. You will then have the form returned to indicate if authorised and if there will be a fine. The school does NOT receive any of the money from the fines, it is processed by the Local Authority after the school has shared the information. If you feel you have an exceptional circumstance and can provide documentation to support this, please indicate this on the form so it can be reviewed. However, the reason does need to be very exceptional. Please feel free to make an appointment to discuss before asking for any leave.

Once processed by the Local Authority, which will be once you have returned from your holiday, both parents/carers for a 1st offence Penalty Notice Fine is £80 per pupil per parent, rising to £160 if not paid within the stated time or a 2nd offence (within 3 years) a fine of £160 per parent per child or 3 or more offences (within 3 years) the case will go to Magistrates court and can be fined up to £2,500 per parent per child and can appear on parents DBS certificates. These fines also apply when a child has 10 unauthorised marks/ 5 days.

We would always prefer a child to arrive late than not attend school at all, so please always try to ensure your child has good attendance. Our Education Welfare Officer regularly reviews our attendance per pupil and the reasons for absence.
